The business will be called “Sourdough Sam’s” The menu will offer organic vegetables in all of the meal options. Our company will showcase specialty, freshly baked breads for its products. The restaurant will offer the convenience of a drive-thru window as well as restaurant seating.

Week 5: Operations plan due at end of week.
Week 6: Finance plan (all but exit strategy and valuation) due at end of week. Feedback from Marketing and Operations plan.
Week 7: Final exit strategy and valuation draft due. Create ES and begin .ppt.
Week 7: Total plan cleanup and synthesis. Finish .ppt and practice presentation.
Week 8: Give presentation and submit completed plan. SKILLS INVENTORY (include at least one pertinent strength and weakness of each team member:) Lyndee: Strength Business writing, Project Management, Marketing Weakness Finance and Accounting Tina: Strength Finance and Accounting Weakness Technology Jon: Strength Finance, Accounting, and Management Weakness Marketing POTENTIAL BARRIERS AND COPING STRATEGIES: (include barriers to the achievement of goals, e.g. time management, language skills, and identify coping strategies): A potential barrier involves the management of a pilot capstone program with three different degree majors. This type of program has never been conducted and could present unanticipated issues throughout the duration of the course.
GROUND RULES: (include meeting schedule, attendance expectations, agenda, communication methods):
Meeting schedule:The entire group will meet during class on Monday for entire 3.5 hours. This time will be used to discuss the progress of the individual groups as well as the upcoming milestones for the team. Prior to meeting, each capstone will submit an outline of their upcoming tasks for the week to the Team Leader. The Team Lead will combine the outlines into an agenda that will be utilized during class on Monday evenings. Additionally, each Capstone group (GM, PM, IS) will meet at least once a week on their own via phone, in-person, Skype or via other desired medium. Meeting notes will be created for each individual capstone and will be distributed to the entire team. Communication will be done through many mediums including but not limited to; phone, e-mail, Skype, in-person, and wiki leaks.
CONFLICT MANAGEMENT:
How will you manage conflict? The Team Lead will address the issue first with the individual or individuals directly involved. If issue cannot be resolved, the whole team will gather in person and address it. If the conflict continues, the team will address the situation with the Professor and devise a plan to divide up work among remaining team members.
Plan for minor disagreements, inability to agree on submissions? Team B will follow the “majority rules” concept depending on the situation. Issues that involve one capstone will be determined within that particular group. An example of this is that GM students will have a say on “GM” matters and will be able to make a final decision without majority being able to overrule.
Who will have final say for major disagreements? Majority rule or leader? A majority rule will have the final say on major disagreements among individual capstone groups and/or disagreement relating to the team membership as a whole.
What will be the method of communicating with team members who do not deliver? The communication will be a phone call or in-person (whichever method is most expedient) in order to bring attention to the behavior.
Will you deduct points from peer reviews for team members who miss deadlines? If so, how many? Yes, it will vary based on the situation and which deadlines were missed.
Will you “vote non-functioning team members off the island?” (If so, that must be stated here, including the process you will follow. If you invoke this clause, you MUST notify your faculty member before the final “vote” is taken. Yes, if a member stops contributing to the project for two weeks or longer or if work is unsatisfactory for that same period of time. For the first offense, the Team Lead will contact the individual group member. If the team member continues to slack on their portion of the work, the entire team will address the member. If the behavior continues after the numerous attempts to remedy the issue, the professor will be notified and the team member will be kicked off the island.
Business Description:
The business is a healthy, fast food alternative that will provide the target market with a variety of sandwiches, wraps, and soups. The menu will offer organic vegetables in all of the meal options. Our company will showcase specialty, freshly baked breads for its products. The restaurant will offer the convenience of a drive-thru window as well as restaurant seating. Business Problem:
The business has no established IT or communication infrastructure to use in its operations. We will be building the infrastructure based on business requirements. How the Project Will Solve the Business Problem:
The project will establish an efficient IT/communications infrastructure for a start-up business venture. This infrastructure will provide both essential data and voice communication throughout the various levels of the firm's operations where none previously existed. Describe at a high level the project from a technical point of view, including the software developed/integrated:
We are creating the IT and communications infrastructure from scratch. This is a small startup restaurant with limited money and resources. We will try to purchase an all-in-one restaurant software system that will track inventory, record sales (POS), and track employee hours. Included in this will be an e-commerce site that will allow customers to order online. Communications details between customers (drive-thru and walk-ins), order entry takers, and kitchen
Communications between drive-thru customers and order takers will require wireless headsets - wireless technology
Monitor to show customers what they ordered, for verification
Point-of-sales system details
4 touch screen displays (1 at drive-thru and 3 at front counter) for order entry
Configuration options – 1 computer for each station or 1 or 2 more powerful stations with virtual OS
Windows XP or 7 (number depending on final configuration)
2 monitors in kitchen to display orders
(Consider) – self-serve ordering stations
Data stored in database – database could be part of the software system
E-commerce - website · Online payment processing utilizing a web service · Ability for customers to customize their items or choose from standard items · Allow for requesting pickup time and calculate pickup times based on order size and current business activity
